Concrete Countertops

So I dislocated my elbow about two months ago. Jen and I have been planning to redo our kitchen ever since we moved into our place. Well, somehow dislocated elbow meant I had plenty of time away from climbing to build concrete countertops for our new kitchen. What an idiot!

First of all, I started climbing again three weeks after my dislocation. Second of all, after my accident, I started running like a mad man. And third of all, how would I lift heavy concrete with a dislocated elbow? Stupid Yao!

Fortunately for me, my friend Fred totally hooked me up with beta and help on building concrete countertops. If it wasn't for Fred, I would have formica tops right now. Less work and less look. I feel like I have two jobs right now; leaving work only to go to work that doesn't pay. In fact, it cost me money! Like I said before, "Stupid Yao!"

Anyways, tomorrow I plan on taking the day off, and head down to Denver to buy the rest of my supplies, and hopefully start pouring soon. Cross your fingers.

Trying this thing out.

I almost forgot which email address I used for this thing it's been so long since the last time I wrote. I guess I will see how it goes.

I have been climbing for three weeks now after my dislocated elbow. I definitely do not feel up to snuff, but I guess it is ok. Climbing just needs to be fun in itself, not by the levels of success you receive from it.

Last weekend, I took the jr. team of the Boulder Rock Club to ABS Regional Championships. It was a hella long drive to Provo, but we made it with only one major incident. Driving through the small canyon between Rifle and Grand Junction, I narrowly missed a car that lost control right in front of us. Visions of flying kids and death and mayhem were flooding my head as I witnessed this car spin out of control and into my lane. By some miraculous feat of seredpitity, we did not hit the car. I still think about it almost a week later with some disbelief.

Fiasco comp. The comp was a marathon of standing around waiting for the competitors to finish, so that the kids and I could make the gruelling drive back to Boulder. We expected to leave Provo by 3 at the latest. 4:30 rolled around, and I heard the words Super Final. Apparently, 9 kids tied for first in Boys C. Not good. How do you have 9 kids flash four boulder problems? Then my juniors boys had to duke it out in another super final with one other kid. Needless to say, by 6:30, I was ready to get out of there.

Unfortunately, my dreams of making it back to Boulder to go to the Poudre the next day was nixed. Instead, we went to the Momentum Rock Climbing Gym. The kids were super psyched to still do even more climbing, and we had a lot of fun on the much taller walls they had. Thanks Momentum. We owe you.
